The Long and Short of it...
Will hair extensions damage my hair?
What is Fusion?
With the use of either a thermal fusion iron or an ultrasonic fusion tool, individual strands of keratin tipped human hair are attached to your own hair in approximately 1/4" sections. Fusing starts from the lower nape area with horizontal rows and works up to the crown and the sides. The process generally takes between one and a half to two hours, depending on the thickness and length of your own hair. A sample fusion row will resemble the photo below.

What is the shortest hair can be to get fusions?
The best length for extensions is 5" or longer. This is especially important for the top layers. Extensions on hair as short as 3" long are alright if desperate, but a cut to blend appointment will be required immediately after to avoid a "mullet" look.
Can I color my hair with extensions in? Will you do it?
Yes, you can color all your roots with your hair extensions in. It is best to get them professionally done prior to your extension application and touched up by your stylist while the extensions are in. Rapunzel Reinvented does not offer color services even though all our technicians are fully licensed cosmetologists. We fervently believe it is better to excel at one service, rather than be mediocre at them all. As the saying goes, "Jack of all trades, master of none." This is not our philosophy...we choose to focus on fusion hair extensions and are fantastic at them!
Are "Strand-by-Strand" fusion extensions better than "sewing" in the extensions?
The extension method an individual choses is strictly a matter of preference. There is no "better" as long as YOU are happy with the result. There are, however, differences. When extensions are sewn or weaved in there are rows of small braids that make it difficult to wash your scalp. Many find over time the scalp may become itchy, oily and flaky. Strand-by-Strand fusion extensions are attached to the hair (not the scalp) and are completely free flowing. You can run your fingers between the bonds which makes them comfortable, easy to wash, and natural looking.
My hair is really thin on top. Can extensions fill in the top of my hair?
Hair extensions are great to give your hair increased fullness and length, but it will all depend on the individual. Sometimes you need more coverage because the hair on the top of your head is too thin to properly cover the hair extension bonds. We have experience placing extensions to blend in the effects of Alopecia, Trichotillomania, and other forms of hair thinning due to natural, chemical or medical conditions. Clients with hair loss, thinning or any hair or scalp condition should naturally seek the advice of their doctor before proceeding with any services.
How long do fusion hair extensions last?
We recommend keeping extensions in from 2-3 months, although they can last for up to 6. Longer wear can cause stress to your hair resulting in breakage. How you care for your extensions will be the ultimate determining factor in their durability and strength.
